What is the reason for sickness? Look, it depends on the... Sickness is a challenge, no? Because who wants to be sick? Anyone of you? Well, you are already sick in the mind. So, this is the biggest sickness of nowadays, you know, the sickness of the mind.
So, what is the sickness of the mind now? Fear. This is a sickness, actually. Fear. And this is one thing which everybody is driven. A little problem happens in your life, what will awake first? Fear. Why? Because you don't have a grand picture of everything. The first thing you don't understand in your life, what is awake? Fear. So, you see, measuring by that, and you see fear as a challenge. So, when you have partnered yourself with fear, do you think you will be able to be free? You see, fear accumulates, especially into the mind.
If we look at the mind, how the mind functions, there are two factors, you know. There is one factor is that there is Karmic. Certain illnesses is due to karmic things, okay? And that also, the karmic diseases can change, you know, you can transform it, you can transcend it, you know. So, this is one thing. Second is due to the stress and fear of life itself. Very often when you look at people, you ask yourself, "Are you living? Are you living your life?" Majority of the people live in fear. Fear of never being accepted, fear of never having enough, fear of having and will lose it. You know, that is also a fear. If you have a lot of things, That also will drag you. Fear accumulates itself in many ways inside of you. So, karmic fear, when it happens, you will transform. But more fearful is that mental fear that you put upon yourself, you know. And that mental fear is very difficult to let go.
That's why you see this world, you know, you see how people are so inside. Fear of being judged, fear of so many things into this world, you know. So, where will that go, all this fear? In every individual there is a weak point. Like there is a strong point, there is also a weakness. And your weakness will absorb all these fears.
And according to your weakness, because each individual has their own weakness, you know, your weakness will not be your weakness. You have a different one, because each individual being is different. So, that will impose upon those weaknesses. Then it will come as illnesses. So, this is through the fear of the outside.
And the fear and illnesses which is related to karmic things is also easily transcended. So, how? This is a question. You see, when something happens in your life, how important does it become? Very much, no? So, is your attention centered or not centered? It keeps changing. So, are you free from that? No, you don't become free. So, then how to be free? This is where Surrendering to your spiritual path, surrendering to the Feet of Guru and God becomes one pillar. This is where your spiritual path comes into action. And into that those which are free, they don't bother about that. Continuously, in Bhagavad Gita Krishna said, no? Those who understand truly the aim of life, those who understand the game of life, you know, they attain to Me, you know, and they don't get attached to this materiality. So, that also is very important to understand. What happens when such challenges awaken? As long as you don't accept it, it evolves itself. The moment you accept it, you have the solution of it. Once there was a student who went to his guru, to his teacher and said, "You know, in my life there is so so many challenges, and I find it very difficult to overcome these challenges. What should I do? I have tried everything." So the Master looked at him and said, "My dear, why you don't accept it?" Not letting the Master talk, said, "Yes, I accept it, but still it's very difficult for me." You see, the moment you accept something in life, it is not difficult. The moment you challenge it, you don't accept it, then it becomes problematic. So, the Master gave him a very beautiful answer and said, "Look, imagine you have a bow and arrow and you have an aim, okay? And you are shooting towards that aim. Okay? So, your aim is clear. You are standing at a certain distance. Anything can happen when you are shooting an arrow. So, imagine it starts to get foggy. What will happen? What happened? Would you see the aim? No. The distance is clear. It is there. You can't change the distance. You are in a competition. You have a line. You have to shoot. Can you change the distance? You can't change. And it starts to get foggy. It is in your hand to change it? You can't. For sure you will be thinking, "What can bring that fog away. A wind, no? So, you will pray, "Let a wind come." But a wind can be challenging also, because the wind can blow the arrow away from its target. So, you see, this is what many people do. They say, "Pray that a wind come." And the target is being this. So, if you understand that, you will have only to accept that everything that happens is part of your journey. Without this happening into your life, you will not be where you are, you will not be who you are. Throughout your life there were many experiences of positive and negative experiences that have built up who you are. But how you underestimate yourself, this is important also. Because, you see, very often human beings have a weakness, The weakness is that they like to follow everything that everybody is doing. It's true. They like to follow the majority of the trend. If everybody becomes crazy, let follow and become crazy. And you see that. They like to become small and they think of themselves being small, but they think of themselves being weak. Small doesn't mean weaknesses. Small means you can bring a certain impact into certain changes to happen. How you view yourself? You want to be in your weaknesses or you want to be in your strengths?
If you are in your weaknesses, you will run and do whatever all the majority is doing. You want the majority or their majority with their tribal. But your minority, you can make a deep impact. Just like when you cook rice, when you take three bowls of rice Three cups of rice. Let's put it in that way. I don't think you eat three bowls of rice. Three cups of rice. How many salt do you put in the rice? Do you put three cups of salt? What will happen if you put three cups of salt? You have salty rice. You will not be able to eat it. So, how much salt do you put into it? A very little pinch. Oh, my goodness! Maybe in your country salt is very expensive, but a little bit more than a pinch, man. Or you don't know how to cook rice. That's one other thing. It's true actually, many people don't know how to cook rice. So, you don't put, you put a very little bit. So, compared to the rice, amount is very little. But if you put too much, the rice is ruined. So, that little salt has a big impact upon that rice itself. Yes? The same, if you go in a room, okay, it's dark. You put a bulb, no? You light bulb inside of your room. How big is the bulb? That big. Maybe it's a bit bigger. Yes? What is the impact of that bulb in the room? Huh?
It brings light, no? So, if that little bug can enlighten this room, depends on what you want to be. You want to be the room, which is big, or you want to be the light. You want to be the salt, or you want to be the rice. Choice is up to you. Understand what I want to say? So, the same thing, you see, with challenges of the mind through certain illnesses. It is viewed as challenge as long as you don't accept it, as long as you fight it. But the moment you accept it and say, "Yes, this is part of my journey which is bringing me to where I have to be. Let's transcend it."
So, what is the sickness of the mind now? Fear. This is a sickness, actually. Fear. And this is one thing which everybody is driven. A little problem happens in your life, what will awake first?
